In the first episode when Will introduces Winston, his sigh when he sits down and how happy his Jack Russell seems just made me think of how much pain people hide for those who are dependent on them. And the naivete of children and, I guess, dogs, who aren’t always so good at picking up on when their parent or grandparent or teacher or (in the case of dogs) owner really hurts. So I want to write from Winston’s point of view. On how great Will is, and how funny he is when he goes on walks at night, and how cool it is that he smashes a hole in the chimney, and how jealous Winston is that Will got to stand on the roof to enjoy the sun. And Winston’s always really happy when Will is there. Which is great for Will, because at least his dogs are happy no matter how messed up he is. But then maybe Will hurts himself and the dogs see that he’s not okay, and that his sighs were never okay, and his sweating and sleepwalking wasn’t funny…
